Aon (cut-e) assessment: every task explained

Short timed ability scales; some employers add gamified versions.

Used by: Morgan Stanley (and many more).

Tasks

gridChallenge

Measures: Working memory under distraction. Length: 9 min, 9 rounds.

Remember where each dot appears while answering a quick shape question between dots; then tap the dots in order.

switchChallenge

Measures: Deductive reasoning. Length: 6 min.

Each digit of a code says which input position moves to that spot; pick the code that produces the output row.

digitChallenge

Measures: Numerical reasoning. Length: 6 min.

Fill every blank with a different digit from 1 to 9 so the equation is true; any correct answer counts.

motionChallenge

Measures: Planning. Length: 6 min.

Get the ball to the exit in as few moves as you can, sliding blocks out of the way one square at a time.

gapChallenge

Measures: Logical reasoning. Length: 6 min.

Every row and column contains each shape exactly once; work out which shape belongs in the question mark.

scales numerical

Measures: Numerical reasoning at speed. Length: 12 min, 37 rounds.

Read the table or chart and pick the right answer from five. A calculator is allowed, as in the real tests.

Format: tables and charts with one question each; several screens reuse the same data, so read the headings once and keep them in mind. Timing: 12 minutes for up to 37 items, and almost nobody finishes, so the score rewards correct answers per minute. Tactics: estimate first and pick the option that fits; work it out exactly only when two options are close. Skip an item that would cost more than a minute. Have a calculator and scrap paper ready before you start.

scales verbal

Measures: Verbal reasoning at speed. Length: 12 min, 49 rounds.

Read the passage, then say whether the statement is True, False or Cannot say from the passage alone.

Format: short texts, each followed by statements you mark true, false or cannot say from the text alone. Timing: 12 minutes for up to 49 statements; the test is built so you run out of time. Tactics: read the statement first, then scan the text for the one sentence it depends on. Watch qualifiers (all, some, only, by 2027): a statement that goes one step beyond the text is cannot say, not true. Ignore what you know about the topic.
